Getting your pet sterilised is a big decision but a must to maintain the health of non breeding pets. Sterilisation not only has health benefits but assuming you are not a dog or cat breeder, is often the sign of a responsible pet owner. The procedure is a simple day surgery that can be performed at the clinic on MONDAYS to SATURDAYS generally with only a 1-2 day waiting period. Our prices are very competitive and unlike many quoted prices include all foreseeable costs including pain relief, IV fluids (for the girls), the dreaded elizabethan collar as well as complementary nail clipping.

Our vets have collaberated to create an outline of the major health benefits of sterilising your pet:
Why sterilise your cat or dog?
We all have different reasons but we are mainly concerned with the health benefits neutering promotes.
CATS - If you own a cat you will be well aware of the problems of feral cat populations in Australia. Cats are excellent reproducers and good survivors, sterilisation is a must!
- just don't leave it too late.
You can help by sterilising your cat and encouraging your family and friends to do the same with their unsterilised pet sex offenders. We recommend sterilisation from 4-6 months of age for both males and females. De-sexing of male cats will reduce the risk of roaming as well as the dreaded cat fight leading to painful cat bite abscesses which are also primarily responsible the for spreading of Feline AID's (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
The benefits our veterinarians can provide with early sterilisation of cats includes:
- Reduced roaming and territorial feuding
- Reduced unwanted litters
- Reduced risk of disease
- Reduced Urine spraying and unwanted sexual behaviour (esp. queens)
DOGS - The problems concerning our veterinarians with unsterilised dogs are little different to those of cats, yet there are great health benefits to sterilisation.
With dogs the benefits of sterilisation include:
- Reducing breed-related problems (eg retained testicles, umbilical hernias, loose knee caps, hip dysplasia, etc)
- Reduce Male (and female) hormonal dominance issues
- Reduced pyometra risk - a common life threatening infection of the uterus seen in middle aged bitches
- Reduced risk of cancers of ovaries, testicles, prostate
- and more!
The surgery is a simple day procedure, which involves a general anaesthetic using the safest anaesthetics available. Our veterinarians only provide the highest quality service including complementary intravenous fluids (drip), pain relief, including 3 days post operative pain relief and nail clipping. BEWARE the 1/2 price sterilisation! your pet deserves the best and it only costs a fraction more to ensure your pet has a safe and positive experience.
Please do not hesitate to call us to discuss your pets sterilisation with us, our staff and veterinarians will be happy to discuss any of your questions or concerns as well as provide you with an estimate of costs
